Saboten

Finally it’s the last day of work! Met up with Baby and his BMT friends to have a small gathering and dinner together. After long walking, finally we decided to eat at Millenia Walk’s Saboten!

Saboten is a Japanese restaurant that is well known for their Tonkatsu (fried breaded pork loin cutlet). Saboten first started out in Shinjuku, Tokyo in 1966. Today, it is one of the biggest Tonkatsu chain in Japan with over 500 outlets. It has also expanded overseas to South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

First time trying food at this restaurant, which is famous for its pork cutlet. One set meal costs around $19 minimum, comes with lettuce, miso soup and Macha ice cream dessert!

Fresh sesame! They say you have to work for your food. So you can mix up your own seasoning for dipping into your tonkatsu. Simply ground your sesame seeds and…

Add plum sauce!!

Free flow of shredded cabbage with either citrus sauce or sesame sauce.
I super love it with the sesame sauce! I love cabbage!!

BF's meal. Can't remember which dish was this ):

I ordered the Fried Breaded Pork Loin Cutlet, which is the best in the restaurant.
The pork cutlet is tender and soft, coated with crispy golden bread crumbs. And what's best is that it is not oily at all! Initially I didn't want to eat at this restaurant because it's fried food. But the pork isn't greasy at all!

The set meal costs $22 before GST and service charge, and comes with a free flow of cabbage, rice and miso soup, breaded pork loin cutlet and ice cream.

The pork cutlet with the sesame sauce that I grounded earlier on.

Macha green tea dessert at the end of the meal! It has a milky with a mild sweet yet bitter green tea taste. Love it!

For some reason, when we paid for the bills, the macha green tea drink was FOC. Good deal and awesome food. A minus point was the strong oil smell. Or is it the tonkatsu smell? LOL. But I could smell the oil while waiting for my seats and also inside the restaurant. Otherwise, the food is really good and worth every penny!

I'll rate it 4.5/5. I deducted 0.5 because of the oil smell and the pork was abit dry. I especially love the salad (cabbage), quite fresh and I love the sauce accompanying!

Definitely would want to go back to Saboten to try out some more new food!
